POLICY NOTES

From the official record

A short, source-linked reading list. Dates below identify the underlying announcement, rather than a newly invented publication or news report.

01

October 28, 2026 — target increased to 2.50%

The Bank of Canada raised the target by 25 basis points. Read its published decision and Monetary Policy Report for its explanation. This site does not turn that decision into a claim about rates available to every borrower.

02

September 2, 2026 — target held at 2.25%

The scheduled September decision left the overnight target unchanged. The next decision in the reviewed record was October 28. A historical hold is not evidence that a later target remains unchanged.

03

Keep announcement, effective and review dates separate

A policy change is implemented the day after its announcement. A site review date records when we checked the source; it is not another rate decision. Every result should be read with that distinction.
